Update On October 1, 2022
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:
GREAT NEWS! AS OF OCTOBER 1, 2022, CANADA NO LONGER REQUIRES COVID VACCINATIONS, PRE-ARRIVAL COVID TESTS, ETC. ESSENTIALLY, ALL BORDER PROCEDURES ARE THE SAME AS PRE-COVID.
The following information will remain for historical purposes, BUT IS NOW OBSOLETE
Update On June 12, 2022
The USA no longer requires a negative covid test before boarding a plane for the USA. That’s great news for our guests flying back to the States from Winnipeg International. A vaccine and the ArriveCAN app are still required.
Update On April 26, 2022
The one applicable change by the Canadian Government to the information below is that travelers will no longer need to put down a quarantine plan in the ArriveCAN app starting today. You will still need to input a location that you are staying, which is listed below.
Information Below is Current as of April 5, 2022
MAIN POINTS
Vaccinations are are essentially required for everyone 12 and over. Bring your vaccination card.
All guests must either use the ArriveCAN app or website to register BEFORE traveling to the border. This applies to both land and air travelers, adults and kids.
If you are flying commercially, you do not need a pre-departure negative test to travel to Canada. You may be subjected to a random test upon arrival, but may continue on your way while waiting for results.
If you are flying commercially back to the United States, you currently DO need to do a pre-departure COVID test. You’ll need to either schedule one in Winnipeg, or a much better solution is to bring along an APPROVED test. This test needs to be done while on video with the testing company, which can be done at the lodge. The standard at-home tests are not proctored and do not meet the requirements.
Transport Canada requires masks on aircraft (and proof of vaccination if asked), so you’ll need a mask to fly on the floatplanes. Some businesses and organizations do have mask and proof of vaccination policies in place - be prepared and have a mask available.
Entry into Canada
See the following website to see the full details on what is required to enter Canada:
travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/covid-vaccinated-travellers-entering-canada#children
Fully vaccinated travellers no longer need to provide a pre-entry COVID-19 test result to enter Canada by air, land or water. Current federal requirements are:
All travellers (land or air) must use ArriveCAN to provide mandatory travel information before and after entry into Canada. ArriveCAN is either done on a website or with an app. Click the link for more info. You may register up to 8 people at once in the app.
Children under 12 do not need to be vaccinated as long as they are traveling with adults that are vaccinated. They do required a pre-arrival negative covid test.
While there is a way that children 12-17 could cross the border without a vaccine, Transport Canada regulations require that everyone 12 and over be vaccinated to fly. So that effectively mandates vaccines for our guests 12 and over.
Travellers may be selected for random arrival testing
Travellers will not be required to self-isolate while awaiting test results
These test results are not required to depart Canada.
In the ArriveCan app or website, you may be asked for information on your quarantine plan. You can either put the Papertown Motor Inn or this address for Dogskin.

Here is the official Canada guidance on who can enter Canada:

Entry into the US from Canada
Driving across the border
Travellers driving across the border no longer need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test to enter the United States.
Flying across the border
Flying back to the USA does not require anything to be done as of June 12!
Prior to boarding an airplane to the United States, a COVID-19 test must be taken within one calendar day of travel by all passengers 2 years and older with negative results. The best solution would be to bring approved rapid COVID tests with you when you come to Canada. It is suggested that you bring along a couple extra for your group in the event of a mishap or problem with one of the tests. These tests are proctored and you can use your smartphone, iPad or laptop to take the test using our internet at the lodge. If you do not have an internet device to connect to the lab, we’ll have one you can borrow. For outpost groups, you can take the test when you get internet access after returning to the floatplane base. From our research, the BinaxNOW test seems to be the best option and should be reimbursable by your insurance company. Note that they require that you download and register in the app before you leave the US.
