About Dogskin Lake Lodge
Nearly 30 Years of Family Hospitality
Dogskin Lake Lodge was established in 1969 and has been owned and operated by the Torgerson family since 1996. Brothers Shad and Jamie Torgerson grew up with a deep love for the outdoors and a belief that a fly-in fishing trip should deliver on every promise — from the fishing to the food to the cabins you sleep in.
Over 25 years, the Torgersons have built Dogskin into one of Manitoba's premier fly-in destinations through hands-on ownership and a commitment to honest, no-nonsense hospitality. You'll find Shad or Jamie on-site throughout the season — managing operations, greeting guests, and making sure everything runs the way it should.
Many of our guests have been coming back for over a decade, and quite a few for over two decades. They return not just for the world-class fishing, but for the people, the food, and the feeling of being somewhere truly remote yet completely taken care of.
Atikaki Provincial Park
Dogskin Lake sits deep within Atikaki Provincial Park — Manitoba's first designated wilderness park, established in 1985. Spanning nearly one million acres of untouched boreal forest, Atikaki is one of the largest protected wilderness areas in North America. In 2018, Atikaki became part of Pimachiowin Aki ("The Land That Gives Life") — Canada's first mixed cultural and natural UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the largest in North America.
The UNESCO designation recognizes both the extraordinary boreal ecosystem and the cultural heritage of the Anishinaabe people, who have cared for this land for over 7,000 years. Ancient pictographs painted on rock faces along the waterways are a humbling reminder that people have been drawn to these lakes for millennia.
There are no roads into Atikaki. Access is by floatplane only, which means the lakes remain pristine and the fishing pressure stays low. The park is home to moose, black bear, bald eagles, wolves, and an incredible diversity of boreal wildlife. This level of isolation is rare and getting rarer — it's what makes Dogskin Lake's fishery so consistently productive and why a trip here feels unlike anything else in Canada. Exclusive Water
7,000 acres of water where we hold the only outfitting rights. No competing lodges, no public access — just you, your group, and world-class fishing.
Family Hospitality
Owner-operated means every decision is made with guests in mind. From chef-prepared meals to daily cabin service, we treat every guest like family — not a booking number.
Catch & Consume
Our catch-and-consume policy means no fish leave the lake. You enjoy fresh walleye at your shore lunch every day, and the fishery stays healthy for the next generation of anglers.
Modern Equipment
16' Lund boats with Yamaha 4-stroke motors, maintained and fueled daily. Solar-powered outposts, private cabins with full bathrooms at the lodge — comfort in the wilderness, not roughing it.
